About this place
Set along Nishikioomiya-cho in Kyoto's Nakagyo Ward, Niku-Mon offers a wide repertoire of yakiniku that covers everything from classic offal and lean red cuts to raw-style preparations. A natural starting point is the signature Omi hoso, which uses Omi beef small intestine to highlight rich umami and melting, sweet rendered fat. The grill selection is equally generous, including flavorful tenniku (beef cheek) with its concentrated richness, the boldly sliced Nikumon kalbi, and 5-second loin designed for just a brief flash over the heat.
Beyond grilled meats, the menu pays close attention to fresh raw and lightly seared preparations. Offerings range from heart sashimi served with house soy sauce and Japanese mustard, meticulously cleaned white senmai (omasum tripe), and ten-sashi (cheek sashimi) paired with grated daikon and ponzu, through to Wagyu tongue yukhoe and signature skirt steak yukhoe mixed with premium Ran-o egg yolks. Diners can also opt for premium meat sushi or rich gyu-toro sushi, where the savory meat juices soak into the seasoned sushi rice.
Side dishes and finishing plates round out the meal with varied flavors and textures. Options include the signature potato salad with its satisfying textural accents, a house-developed garlic rice born from extensive trial batches, and a 48-hour curry simmered with beef tendon, as well as refreshing lemon cold noodles to cleanse the palate. With counter seating, booths, and semi-private rooms, and opening hours running from 17:00 in the evening until 24:00 late at night, the space comfortably accommodates solo diners and evening groups alike.
